Welcome to South Brevard Sharing Center!
South Brevard Sharing Center is about treating people with dignity and respect by
providing a haven for those who struggle to meet their basic needs. The Sharing
Center was founded in 1971 as a non-profit, community based agency for charitable
and philanthropic purposes. The general nature and purpose of this organization
is to provide short-term emergency assistance to needy individuals and families,
in the Brevard County Area where Federal, State, and County funds are not available.
Our Objectives are:
- To provide emergency assistance to those in need,
- To serve as a liason between religious and civic organizations and other local agencies, and
- To provide an outlet to persons with an abundance to readily share those items of financial surpluses with those in need.
Services:
In 2006 over 26,118 people received help from the Center. The assistance
given varies with each case. The Sharing Center is designed to provide emergency
financial aid, help with utilities, rent, prescription, gasoline, etc. Food, clothing
, household items and furniture are also available for those in need. Referrals
are accepted from all area religious organizations and agencies. The Center receives
an average of 750 referrals each month.
